Spotlight is one of the most important apps on a Mac. It helps people search for files, performs calculations and conversions, and assists them in finding information on the web. Now, you can use a similar app on your Galaxy Book running Windows OS. And this app has been made by none other than Google.

Google has announced that it has developed a Search app for Windows OS, and that it can “help you find what you need, faster.” After installing it on your Galaxy Book (or any other device running Windows 10 or Windows 11), you can quickly access it by pressing Alt + Space via the keyboard, but you can customise the keyboard shortcut, similar to how Spotlight can be accessed on macOS devices.

The app integrates with Google Search and has Google Lens built in. So, you can use text or images to search for information from the internet. It can also search for local files on your Galaxy Book and files from your Google Drive cloud storage. You can drag it anywhere on the screen and switch between Dark and Light modes. To use the app, you have to sign into your Google account.

Google says its new Windows tool can help you with homework, as you can select any image from your laptop's screen and use Google Search's AI mode for help. It can also help you in translating language. You can switch between six search modes: All results, AI Mode, Images, Shopping, Videos, and More.

The app is currently limited to users who live in the USA and use English on their PC. However, it could soon expand to more regions and for more languages.
