The Galaxy A14 was one of Samsung's best-selling phones at some point. Both the 4G and 5G versions made the top 10 list in 2023, and both fought for market space with the much more powerful iPhone 15 and 15 Pro.

In 2025, the A14 is still somewhat relevant, albeit outdated. But Samsung still offers support through quarterly security patches. However, if you're wondering whether your Galaxy A14 will receive another One UI update, you're out of luck.

Samsung released Android 15 and One UI 7 for the Galaxy A14 this past summer. And this will be the phone's last major release. The phone shipped with Android 13 and already reached its limit of two big OS upgrades.

One UI 8.0 is based on Android 16, and so is the upcoming One UI 8.5 version. Unfortunately, the Galaxy A14 is not eligible for these updates.

If you are considering a phone replacement, newer Galaxy A1x phones offer much better firmware support. For instance, the Galaxy A17 ships with Android 15 and One UI 7 out of the box, and Samsung promises up to six major OS updates.

The newer A17 phone also boasts a few interesting hardware upgrades, including a Super AMOLED display, more power, faster charging, and an IP54 dust and water resistance rating.

But one thing you will have to leave behind if you decide to upgrade your Galaxy A14 is the 3.5mm audio port. The Galaxy A17 doesn't have one.

For now, if you want to get the most worth out of your Galaxy A14 while it is still supported, Samsung will technically release quarterly security patches for your phone for about one and a half more years. But will you keep using the phone for that much longer? It might be a challenge if you're craving new features and better hardware.
