Samsung may have taken its time with the One UI 7 rollout, but it’s wasting no time with One UI 8. The company has revealed that the next major software update for Galaxy devices will begin rolling out in September, following an expanded beta program.
For the Galaxy S24 lineup, One UI 8—based on Android 16—will be the second of seven major OS upgrades. Will the update arrive on S24-series phones in September? That remains unclear, as Samsung has not provided an exact timeline. What is confirmed, however, is when the S24 series will get access to the One UI 8 beta.
The beta program for the Galaxy S24 series is scheduled to begin in the week starting August 11. Samsung hasn't revealed which models will be included, but if past precedent is anything to go by, the Galaxy S24 FE will likely be left out.
The beta program will go live in four countries: India, the US, the UK, and South Korea. Germany, Poland, and China, countries that are usually part of One UI beta programs, will not be included this time around unless you own a Galaxy S25-series phone.
One UI 8 out of the box for the impatient
Once the beta program is live, users will need to register through the Samsung Members app. Samsung will also bring the beta to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy S23, and a couple of other flagship phones. Some mid-range devices are also eligible.
We’ll let you know when the first Galaxy S24 beta update becomes available, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out some of the steps you can take to prepare your phone for the One UI 8 beta.
