Samsung and Apple continue to dominate the global smartphone market. And in Q3 2025, each company sold five of the top 10 best-selling smartphone models in the world.
That's not all that surprising, and neither is the fact that Samsung's best-selling phones by volume are low-end models. But a couple of noteworthy shifts did happen in Q3 2025.
The Galaxy A56 finally reached the top 10 list in Q3 2025, and deservedly so. It is, without a doubt, the best mid-range Samsung phone of the year, and in Q3, it ranked 8th in the world.

However, the Galaxy A56 wasn't alone. The Galaxy A36 also made the cut and actually outsold the Galaxy A56 to capture the 7th spot on the list (via Counterpoint Research).

The Galaxy A36 and A56 offer a better set of features than their predecessors, and market watchers say that Awesome Intelligence, Best Face, and Nightography may have contributed to their success.
While seeing the Galaxy A56 in the top 10 is refreshing, unfortunately, the Galaxy S25 Ultra didn't last and was pushed off the list.
This year's Ultra model performed quite well and earned a spot in the top 10 for the first two quarters of 2025. However, in the 3rd quarter, it was no longer among the top-selling phones in the world.
Fortunately for Samsung, the company captured an extra spot in Q3. It had five best-selling models instead of four, at least according to the source, which separated Galaxy A16 4G and A16 5G sales.
As usual, Apple maintained the top three spots. In Q3, its iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max were the world's best sellers.
