Samsung has announced that it is adding two new features to its smart home platform, SmartThings, as well as improving two of its existing features, and making the app more convenient to use.

SmartThings Safe

The SmartThings Safe feature is a button in the SmartThings app, which you can also place on the home screen of your device, and when you tap on it, it will send your time and live location to people in your home. They can then access that information in the app or on the web, including on smartphones, tablets, TVs, and Family Hub refrigerators.

When you are in trouble and need help, calling someone and explaining to them your location, typing a message, attaching a location to it, and sending it to someone could be impossible and take a lot of time. In such situations, the SmartThings Safe can play an important role. Just press the button and your loved ones will know that you are in trouble and your location.

SmartThings Home To Car

SmartThings Home To Car, as the name suggests, is a feature that allows you to monitor the status as well as control many aspects of your car, such as locking and unlocking car doors, turning the engine and air conditioning on or off, or starting and ending charging. That’s not all.

This feature even lets you set automated routines. For example, you can create a routine where, when you lock the door of your house, your car’s engine and air conditioning turn on to pre-cool the cabin. Similarly, you can create a routine where, when you lock the car, the air conditioner as well as the lights in your home turn on to welcome you and make you feel comfortable.

For SmartThings Home To Car, Samsung has collaborated with Hyundai and Kia. That means you can use this feature with select cars from the two brands.

Home Life gets new features

In June, Samsung added the Home Life feature to SmartThings. It recommends actions based on the characteristics of the house, devices owned, and interests.

Well, Samsung is now updating it with automated routines. With that, it will recommend you automation routines, such as turning on the hood when the cooktop is turned on.

SmartThings now offers enhanced customer service support

People using SmartThings and having Samsung devices can now link these products with Samsung’s website and request service or repair through SmartThings.

The SmartThings app will now also show past repair history, which will make after-sales service more convenient.
