Samsung offers a platform for its customers to discuss the brand’s products and services, called Samsung Community. Also available in the Samsung Members app for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, it lets people ask queries, complain about an issue, request features, share tips or something that they have discovered, and even communicate with other Samsung users on the platform. Well, scammers are now leveraging the platform to make some money.
Lately, on Samsung Community, scammers have been creating accounts and sending people phishing messages (via Samsung Community). One such message informs users that Samsung has received a complaint about their profile, and therefore, the company needs to perform an unscheduled verification of the account. To allow Samsung to do that, it asks the user to click on a malicious link. It informs the user that Samsung may impose a fine of $500 on the user.

On Samsung Community, users and moderators have been making people on the platform aware of the scammers and phishing messages, asking them not to click on any link in the message, and urging them to report such messages and accounts. Needless to say, Samsung is deleting such accounts.
The malicious links may load a website that mimics the login page of a platform you know to steal your login credentials, ask you to pay money as a fine for something, install an app that could be harmful, or share your personal data that scammers could use to blackmail you. If you are a Samsung Member user, beware of these scams.
