In June 2024, Samsung introduced SmartThings Pro, a platform for businesses to manage smart devices in the organisation, as well as monitor and control various aspects of the firm. Now, the South Korean tech giant is making the platform more useful for businesses in Korea by adding a new feature to it called the Safety Management Solution to improve the safety of workers with the help of Galaxy Watch models.
Using Galaxy Watch models with LTE connectivity, SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution keeps monitoring various aspects of workers, including their location, fall status, skin temperature, and heart rate in real time. That, coupled with the data about temperature and humidity in the surroundings, fetched from the SmartThings Pro dashboard, the feature ensures that the workers are safe.

In case they aren’t, SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution notifies the business and people around the worker (on their Galaxy Watch) so that they can rectify the situation. Plus, it lets businesses set a risk zone, and if a worker enters that zone, the feature will immediately notify them that the area is risky. It also notifies the business and other people around the worker so they can take a step to de-escalate the situation.

SmartThings Pro Safety Management on Galaxy Watch models also offers an SOS button. If workers find themselves in dangerous situations, such as if they fall, get trapped in confined spaces, or detect a fire, they can press the SOS button, and it will immediately notify the business as well as other people around the worker so that they can help the person. The solution also allows others to call the worker to offer them a solution.

Lastly, SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution, during events like heat waves and heavy rain, sends notifications to inform them about heat-related illnesses, recommends them to get tested, reminds them to check safety facilities, and warns about flooding. It also lets businesses notify workers about safety and health training. All in all, improves the safety of workers and makes it easier for businesses to check their workers’ status.
Commenting on the launch of SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution, Samsung’s Vice President for B2B Solution, Park Chan-Woo said, “We will support smart industrial site safety management with a new solution that combines the health monitoring technology of the ‘Galaxy Watch’ and the data analysis of ‘SmartThings Pro,’” and “We will continue to develop differentiated AI B2B solutions that can be applied to various industrial sites, contributing to protecting worker safety and improving work productivity.”
