Samsung has announced that it has received the BCN Award 2026 for being the biggest Android smartphone brand in Japan. Not long ago, Sony used to be the country's biggest Android smartphone brand. However, over the years, Sony has faded and given way to Google and Samsung.

The BCN Award 2026 has been presented to Samsung for being Japan's biggest smartphone brand in terms of sales (units sold) from January 1 to December 31, 2025. This data was gathered from actual sales figures from point-of-sale (POS) machines in stores and from online store figures. Several Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Ultra, Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7, were well-received by Japanese consumers.

Here is the list of well-performing Galaxy phones in Japan last year (2025).

    • Galaxy A25
    • Galaxy A36
    • Galaxy S23
    • Galaxy S24
    • Galaxy S24 FE
    • Galaxy S24 Ultra
    • Galaxy S25
    • Galaxy S25 Ultra
    • Galaxy Z Flip 6
    • Galaxy Z Fold 6
    • Galaxy Z Flip 7
    • Galaxy Z Fold 7

Apple continues to be the biggest smartphone brand in Japan, though, reigning supreme with over 60% market share. In comparison, all other phone brands seem puny. This has been the case since the first ever iPhone launched in the country.
