Samsung is reportedly launching two variants of its Z Fold flagship this year. The much-rumored wider foldable will be launched as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 while the model we're already used to will be moved up the ladder and launched as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

It appears that Samsung expects the wider model to do well with consumers right out of the gate. That's why the company has reportedly increased its initial production run for the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Galaxy Z Flip 8's production will be in fewer numbers

Korean media is reporting that Samsung planned the initial production run of the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 at 1 million units. It would have ramped up or curtailed the production after the initial pre-order rush subsided.

However, it's claimed that the company has now revised the estimate and will be making between 200,000 to 300,000 additional units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to meet the post-launch demand.

Samsung is launching three new foldables this year. The two Z Fold models will be accompanied by the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The report also mentions that since the Galaxy Z Fold series has outsold the Galaxy Z Flip series in recent years, Samsung won't be making as many units of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 during the initial production run as it used to do for the flip foldables before.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will likely remain the top-selling foldable this year. Since the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is believed to have sold over 6 million units last year, its successor will likely have a substantial initial production run to meet the demand.
