Apple and Samsung have copied several features and ideas from each other over the years. The latest development on that front is that Samsung may have toyed with the idea of adding a dedicated camera button to the Galaxy S26 series, similar to recent iPhones. However, the company seems to have dropped that idea, according to a LinkedIn post discovered by Android Authority.
A former Samsung employee reportedly revealed on LinkedIn that they contributed to an initiative that developed a new dedicated camera button with swipe gestures for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, based on most recently leaked renders of Samsung's upcoming high-end smartphones, there doesn't appear to be a dedicated camera button.

It isn't clear why Samsung dropped the idea in the end, though. Maybe the company didn't like the final solution or it deemed it would be better to spend those resources somewhere else. Other brands like OPPO have already copied the iPhone 16 Pro's camera button and used it in their most recent flagship smartphones.
