Samsung announced earlier this month that the Galaxy Z TriFold would be back in stock in the US on April 10. It seemed like this would be the last chance for customers in the US to get their hands on Samsung's first tri-fold phone.

That has indeed turned out to be true. Samsung has confirmed on its website that the Galaxy Z TriFold is now “completely sold out.” The device will not be restocked and people who didn't buy one when it was available are now out of luck.

You can't buy one new from Samsung anymore

Samsung had made it clear when this device was launched late last year that it would only be available in very limited quantities. The Galaxy Z TriFold was sold in only a handful of markets, including South Korea and the United States.

The company had confirmed last month that the Galaxy Z TriFold was discontinued in South Korea. It was then discontinued in other markets as well. The company did one final restock for the United States which has also been sold out.

The product page for the Galaxy Z TriFold on Samsung's US website says that the “limited-run Galaxy Z TriFold is now completely sold out.” This is as clear an indication as any that Samsung will not be restocking the device anymore.

This $2,899 phone was never going to be a mass-market device. Samsung offered it in limited quantities as a proof of concept. Future models may be more widely available, as there are already reports that a Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is in the pipeline with several upgrades over the original.
