Samsung confirmed the expansion of One UI 8 beta for Galaxy phones earlier today. With this announcement, the company also revealed a tiny bit more about its plans regarding the One UI 8 Watch update for Galaxy Watches. It's not a lot, but at least we know that the company is making some progress.
If you were hoping for a concrete release date, you might be disappointed. But if you were hoping for a confirmation about a 2025 rollout, you're in for a treat. Samsung says One UI 8 Watch will be released on more Galaxy Watch models “later this year.”
Which Galaxy Watch models, you ask? Samsung didn't name any Watches in its latest press release, but previously, it confirmed that One UI 8 Watch will be supported by the Galaxy Watch 4 and later models.
Of course, some Galaxy Watches may receive the One UI 8 Watch update sooner than others, and the Galaxy Watch 4 may be the last to get it.
Likewise, Samsung didn't precisely specify which new One UI 8 Watch features will be made available for which older smartwatch models. The company only mentioned that the update will “deliver motivational health features and a more refined, intuitive interface” to more users.
At the moment, One UI 8 Watch is available for the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra (2025) out of the box. The Galaxy Watch Ultra from 2024 also received the update over the air last month. However, the Galaxy Watch 7 is lagging.
Needless to say, if you don't want to wait but wish to experience One UI 8 Watch right now, your best bet is to buy one of the latest 2025 models.
The base Galaxy Watch 8 starts at $349. The Classic version with a physical rotating bezel starts at $499. And the refreshed Ultra model is available for $649. However, in select markets such as the USA, you can get significant discounts when you trade-in an older smartwatch.
