Samsung Internet, the default web browsing app on Samsung devices, has been renamed. On devices running the stable version of One UI 8.5, it is now called Samsung Browser, which seems like a more logical name to us. This change could come to more devices in the future.

We recently noticed that the Samsung Internet app has been renamed to Samsung Browser on our Galaxy S26 Ultra. In the phoneâs app drawer, it is simply called Browser, as the term Samsung was removed from most stock One UI apps with the One UI 7.0 update that arrived last year. On devices running One UI 8.0 and the beta version of One UI 8.5, the web browser is still called Samsung Internet.

The new name is also visible on the Galaxy Store when viewed on the Galaxy S26. However, on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is running One UI 8.0, the app (version 29.0.1.12) is still listed as ‘Samsung Internet Browser'. This change appears with version 29.0.4.45 of the app, which is not yet available on older devices.

No other changes are visible in the app in terms of UI design or features. This branding change could expand to more Galaxy devices and to the PC version of the app in the near future.
