We're seeing more signs of Samsung planning to release a new pair of budget wireless earbuds. We've known they carry the model number SM-R410 for more than a month now. This means the earbuds should be a direct sequel to the Galaxy Buds FE (SM-R400). However, new evidence suggests that Samsung might stray from the naming convention it set with the 2023 model.
Yesterday, the SM-R410 model number was spotted on the BIS certification website. Now, the same earbuds popped up at the FCC (via FCC Insights/91Mobiles), and this time, the enclosed documents reveal the product's marketing name. It's not what you'd expect.
According to the FCC documents describing the equipment under test, the SM-R410 is a Bluetooth headset developed by Samsung, which carries the marketing name Galaxy Buds Core.

Why would Samsung want to distance the upcoming budget headset from the FE brand? It's difficult to tell, especially since the Fan Edition name is well-established. Perhaps the so-called Galaxy Buds Core earbuds have a new design that's different enough from the existing Galaxy Buds FE to warrant a rebrand.
Samsung has used the Core name before, but only for very cheap Galaxy smartphones that weren't powerful enough to run the full version of One UI. The company stopped doing this some years ago. Samsung has never used the Core brand for a pair of earbuds.
Regardless of whether they'll end up being named Galaxy Buds FE 2 or Galaxy Buds Core, the SM-R410 earbuds should be officially announced this year, possibly at the next Unpacked event, where the company intends to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
For now, if you're in the market for an affordable pair of wireless earbuds, you can still buy the Galaxy Buds FE for $99 or less. They're often cheaper thanks to discounts and trade-in offers.
