Samsung Display provided the dual-folding display that was used in the Galaxy Z TriFold. While that device may have had a limited commercial run, it has been recognized for ushering in a new era for mobile devices.
The company today announced that the dual-folding TriFold panel developed by Samsung Display has received the most prestigious “Display of the Year” award at the Display Industry Awards.
This award, given by the Society for Information Display (SID), is meant to recognize the most innovative display product that was introduced over the past year.
The SID recognized the TriFold as a new form factor that delivers great performance with unmatched portability. It highlighted that this 10-inch panel pushes the envelope on productivity, creativity, and entertainment on mobile devices.
Samsung Display started mass producing the TriFold display in September last year. Its total module thickness of just 0.44mm makes it one of the thinnest foldable panels that company products.
The company integrated its MONT FLEX foldable OLED technology into this panel with demonstrated reliability that can withstand up to 500,000 folds at room temperature without any display degradation.
Samsung Display is no stranger to picking up these awards. Ever since it introduced its 5.68-inch flexible OLED panel in 2024, it has won the Display of the Year award eight times. This is the company's third win in the foldable display category, following its earlier wins in 2020 and 2022.
The continued recognition shows that despite competition, Samsung Display remains a force to be reckoned with in the foldable OLED display segment.
