Samsung has announced that its flagship OLED TV, the S95F, has received the Real Black certification from Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), which is a world renowned electrical engineering certification firm from Germany. This certification confirms that Samsung has improved the Glare Free coating with its new TV.
Samsung's flagship OLED TV for 2025 has received VDE's Real Black certification, meeting the requirements to truly represent black. The TV's screen measured below 0.005 nits in dark environments, sunlight rooms, and even under direct sunlight. This means that even in bright rooms, the TV performs exceptionally well in terms of contrast ratio, effectively fighting glare and reflections.

When Samsung first introduced Glare Free technology last year with the S95D OLED TV, it was noticed that the blacks weren't truly black in bright rooms or with bright light sources. While this reduced glare and reflections, it also introduced raised black levels by introducing a slight purple tinge.
Samsung took its learnings from the Glare Free 1.0 coating and developed the Glare Free 2.0 coating that didn't have those purple tinge issues. You can check its performance in our in-depth video review below.
Hoon Seol, Vice President and Head of CE Division at Samsung Electronics Germany, said, “Earning VDE’s Real Black certification is proof of our commitment to taking OLED technology to new heights. We look forward to bringing more customers the opportunity to experience world-class picture quality with the deepest blacks and color clarity.“
