Samsung has kicked off the 2025 Odyssey Cup in Southeast Asia and Oceania. The company is bringing together the Odyssey monitor brand and one of the most popular esports games in the world: Counter-Strike 2.

The 2025 Odyssey Cup is a multi-stage competition that invites participants from eight countries: Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Registrations are open, and qualifiers begin this week.

National qualifiers from November 7 to November 30 will determine the best Counter-Strike 2 players in each of the eight participating countries.

The winning teams will then enter a group draw to determine match-ups for the grand finale. And the finals will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from December 12 to December 14.

Samsung's star of the show: A 500Hz monitor

The esports competition will be fueled by adrenaline and energy drinks, including Red Bull as a key partner for the second consecutive year.

But as far as gaming hardware goes, the star of the show will be the Odyssey OLED G60SF gaming monitor, which boasts a staggering refresh rate of 500Hz.

This is the perfect panel for a fast-paced, reaction-based esports game like Counter-Strike 2, where every fraction of a second can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

The 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF monitor went on sale in the USA earlier this year for $999, but as of this writing, it is available at a discount.

Author's Note: Counter-Strike 2 is one of the most popular and exciting esports games to play and to watch. As a sequel to the phenomenal CS:GO, the game had a rough start among average gamers due to an inadequate anti-cheat system.

Nevertheless, Counter-Strike remains one of the most exciting esports games and one of the easiest to follow, even for people who aren't familiar with video games. What makes Counter-Strike a great esports game is that, even though the skill level for competitors is very high, the action is easy to follow for spectators.
