Last week, Google upgraded Android’s Quick Share to work with AirDrop on Apple iPhones, enabling a new way to transfer files between the two platforms. So far, the brand has offered the feature only to the Pixel 10 series smartphones, and has suggested that it may offer the feature to other Android devices in the near future. However, we didn’t have a confirmation about which devices will get it. Well, now we have some information on the matter.
On X, Qualcomm says that on Android smartphones with Snapdragon chipsets, Quick Share will work with AirDrop once the feature is “enabled” in “the near future“. It confirms that the feature will not be limited to the Pixel 10 lineup or Tensor series SoCs, but will be available for Android devices with Snapdragon chipsets as well. It means that users of phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 may be able to use Quick Share with iPhone’s AirDrop.
What about Samsung devices using other chipsets, including Exynos and MediaTek models? Well, we assume that Quick Share working with AirDrop doesn’t require special hardware and therefore, most modern Android devices will be eligible for the feature. That being said, we don’t have a confirmation about it yet.
Google upgraded Quick Share on the Pixel 10 series phones with the ability to work with AirDrop with a Google Play System update. The brand could offer the ability to other devices with the same update. So, keep looking out for one. At the moment, there’s no information about when the company will roll it out.
