Samsung is working on three new foldable phones for this year: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and a new model tentatively called the Galaxy Z Wide Fold. The Galaxy Z Wide Fold is expected to differ significantly from existing Galaxy Z Fold devices, as it could feature a much wider foldable display. Now, One UI 9 has revealed more details about it.
Going through the TouchWiz.apk file for the Galaxy Z Fold 7's One UI 9 firmware, we found images that hint at the Galaxy Z Wide Foldâs foldable display aspect ratio. Based on those visuals, the foldable screen appears to have a 4:3 aspect ratio. You can see those images below.

In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an almost square foldable display with a 1.11:1 (or roughly 3.33:3) aspect ratio. This suggests that the Galaxy Z Wide Fold will offer a noticeably wider viewing area than existing Galaxy Z Fold devices.
This also brings its aspect ratio closer to that of the Galaxy Z TriFold. A wider screen could improve the experience when viewing photos and videos, making it more practical than earlier Galaxy Z Fold models. It could also match Appleâs rumored foldable iPhone, which is expected to launch later this year.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Wide Fold could debut in July 2026 with Android 17 and One UI 9.0 onboard. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Wide Fold are rumored to feature nearly crease-free foldable displays for an improved user experience.
