It has only been a couple of weeks since Samsung opened up the beta program for One UI 8.5. The beta firmware has been released for the Galaxy S25 in select markets so far, and it's possible that the company may expand the beta for other devices.
The development work continues for all eligible devices who will receive the update at some point next year. The very first builds have now been spotted for the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets.
It's highly unlikely that these tablets will be made part of the One UI 8.5 beta program. Those who are holding on them will need to wait until the public roll out of One UI 8.5 begins next year to take this new firmware for a spin.
As highlighted on X, the first One UI 8.5 test builds for the Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Tab S8 series have now been spotted on Samsung's servers. This serves as an indication that the development work on the firmware is ongoing.
Whether these tablets will receive all of the features that we've seen be included in this release with the beta firmware remains to be seen. It's not uncommon for some features to be trimmed from the updates meant for older devices.
Samsung hasn't confirmed as yet when it intends to release the One UI 8.5 update to the public. However, if history is any indication, the company will only begin the public roll out after the Galaxy S26 series is released at some point in February or March 2026.
