Galaxy Ring, Samsung's first smart ring, is receiving a new firmware update today in South Korea. It brings two new features that tie in with the Samsung Health platform, where all of the health and fitness data the smart ring collects is sent for processing.
Samsung Health displays an energy score which is based on various tracking metrics, providing an easy understanding of your fitness profile. The new features that this Galaxy Ring update brings help make that score more accurate.
Samsung is rolling out firmware version Q50XWWU2AYD1 for the Galaxy Ring. This update has currently been released in South Korea, but we can expect to see it in other markets soon.
The update brings support for activity regulatory, enabling you to precisely adjust the amount of activity you've done throughout the day. Since this data is used to calculate the energy score, the more precise it is, the more accurate your energy score will be.
Various metrics are tracked and processed to provide you with a daily energy score. This includes total sleep time, heart rate, workouts, activity, and more. Samsung Health then uses AI to provide you with actionable steps that you can take to improve the energy score. For example, if you've worked out particularly hard one day and not slept enough, it will tell you to take it easy the next day and catch up on some much needed sleep.
The other new feature included in this update helps you create a more suitable sleep environment using SmartThings connected devices. It lets you control SmartThings devices to make your sleep environment better. Once this Galaxy Ring firmware update is installed, make sure you're running Samsung Health version 6.29.5 to access the new features.
