I've had my Galaxy S24+ for almost two years now, and I still experience moments when I pick it up and feel like I'm holding a brand-new phone I just got yesterday. But, of course, the phone is almost two years old. Thinking about it, I've identified three reasons why my Galaxy S24+ feels as fresh as it does, even as we approach the end of 2025.

By today's standards, a two-year-old premium phone isn't technically old or outdated. Modern Galaxy flagships are just better than they were just five years ago. I remember my old Galaxy Note 10 feeling more sluggish, comparatively, after two years of owning it. But that certainly isn't the case with the Galaxy S24+.

What is the Galaxy S24+'s secret? Well, I have identified three characteristics that not only hold up in 2025 from a technical perspective but also evoke the same emotion I had when I just bought the phone almost two years ago.

So without further ado, here are the three primary factors that make my Galaxy S24+ feel not only competent but also damn near brand-new in late 2025.

Reason #1: The bright and balanced display

The Galaxy S24+ display isn't perfect. Viewing angles are not the best, and the panel exhibits a bit of weird granularity at minimum brightness. It's almost impossible to see, but you can start noticing it at night, in a pitch-black room, when the screen's brightness level drops to minimum.

However, despite these imperfections, I still get the feeling that I own a brand-new device every time I look at my Galaxy S24+. Why? Mainly because of how bright the screen can get and how nicely it reproduces colors thanks to the improved Vision Booster feature.

The Galaxy S24+ has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with an LTPO backplane, 120Hz, HDR10+, and 2600 nits of peak brightness — just like the newer Galaxy S25 series. It just looks fantastic even now. And I'm a big fan of the Always on Display wallpaper feature.

Reason #2: The design and build quality

I first used my Galaxy S24+ without a case for a while, then I got a protective cover, and now I'm back to using it without a case. And I'll never wrap it in another case unless I have to. In its natural form, this phone feels and looks as premium as any other in 2025.

The matte, frosty finish of the back panel, the flat, solid frame, and the bright display with thin bezels come together to create a device that feels solid, premium, and precisely crafted.

This might be true for even older premium Samsung phones, but it doesn't matter. To me, the Galaxy S24+ looks great and feels even better, and these qualities can still surprise me even today every time I pick it up.

Reason #3: The fact that it feels even faster

I remember that, two years after I bought my Galaxy Note 10, the phone just didn't feel as snappy as it did originally. I even ended up tweaking animation speeds to make the UI feel more responsive.

I haven't felt compelled to perform any such tweaks on my Galaxy S24+. In fact, every new major One UI update, i.e., One UI 7 and One UI 8, made the general UI feel even smoother and more responsive than before.

Outside of gaming performance, where things may have changed slightly over the past couple of years — but I haven't tested, so I can't confirm — the Galaxy S24+ performs not just equal but better than it did at launch.

As a Samsung fan and a Galaxy S Plus enthusiast, this feels incredibly rewarding, and I hope that Samsung will be able to keep this up for at least one or two more years.

Now that the company offers extended firmware support, phones need to last longer, and all I can say is that the Galaxy S24+ has so far been a joy to own.

Hopefully, other Galaxy S24+ users out there share my positive experience with this device and are just as happy with their purchase as I am nearly two years later.
