Samsung introduced Now Brief with the Galaxy S25 and expanded it to the Galaxy S24 with the One UI 8.0 update. However, not all its features worked as well as Samsung advertised. Spotify and YouTube recommendations, in particular, were far from being usable. Samsung is planning to improve them with One UI 8.5.
After using Now Brief, several people complained that Spotify and YouTube recommendations were nowhere close to what they would like to see. Most recommended Spotify playlists and YouTube videos were too generic and not based on a user's preferences or viewing history. So, Samsung appears to be working to improve the feature with One UI 8.5.
Android Authority's report says One UI 8.5's code includes text strings that reveal how Samsung is improving Spotify and YouTube recommendations in Now Brief. It will recommend YouTube videos based on sports teams that you are interested in. It will also recommend videos based on your upcoming trips, liked videos, and more. It will request your permission to track your likes.
Now Brief will also recommend Spotify playlists based on the day, time, and weather. For example, it can recommend music playlists when it is your birthday week. It can also recommend playlists at the start of the week, end of the week (or a Friday playlist), a New Year playlist, a rainy day playlist, a snowy day playlist, and even a playlist that includes songs you've listened to the most this year.
Samsung will also improve Now Brief by introducing photo sharing recommendations to it. For example, it will recommend sharing images with your family members and friends when it finds them in your phone's Gallery app. It can also recommend profile images and relationships for contacts, based on photos found in the Gallery app.
