Today, Samsung started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update globally to eligible Galaxy devices. If your Galaxy phone received the update today, chances are it also gained an important new feature that lets you share files wirelessly with Apple devices such as iPads, iPhones, and Macs. Yes, we are talking about AirDrop compatibility.
The Galaxy S26 series was the first from Samsung to get official AirDrop compatibility through Quick Share. It allows users to share photos, videos, documents, and other files wirelessly with Apple devices such as iPads, iPhones, and Macs. Now, the feature has started rolling out to older devices, including the Galaxy S25 series, through the stable One UI 8.5 update released earlier today.
Other high-end Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series devices will receive the feature over the next few weeks as part of the One UI 8.5 update. You can learn how to share files with Apple devices through Quick Share in our detailed article.
Samsung has not revealed whether Galaxy A, Galaxy F, Galaxy M, Galaxy Tab A, and Galaxy XCover series devices will get AirDrop compatibility with the One UI 8.5 update. However, we do not see any reason why the feature should be limited to Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab S, and Galaxy Z series devices.
