It looks like Google is putting all its efforts these days into improving Gemini in this AI-focussed world. After recently announcing that Gemini is coming to kids accounts, Google has released a new widget for the app, complete with the Material You design language.

Gemini gets widgets on Galaxy (and Android) phones and tablets

Google has announced that the Gemini app will soon get widgets for both Android and iOS platforms. So, if you have a Galaxy smartphone or tablet with Gemini installed, you can soon see a widget to access Gemini faster. This widget appears to have a wide range of sizes (via 9To5Google), from 1×1 to 5×3. It displays shortcuts to camera, file picker, Gemini Live, image attachment, and voice modes.

It also features the Material You design language. So, it changes its theme based on the wallpaper you chose for your Galaxy phone's home screen.

The widget is rolling out with the version 1.0.751104895 of the Gemini app. To access it, you can long-press the Gemini app's icon and tap Widgets. There, you can choose the widget size and place it on your home screen. It is rolling out on devices running Android 10 (and later).

Google said that it has started rolling out the new design to select devices, and all other compatible devices will get it within the next week via the update on the Google Play Store.

The Gemini app is also getting native image generation features inside the Android app. You can upload an image and then ask Gemini to edit the image until you are satisfied. You can ask it to add elements to it or change the background and replace objects via text prompts.
