Samsung made a big switch to the Wear OS platform with the Galaxy Watch 4 series almost four years ago. And it is still supporting those watches with software updates. The Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are now getting a big new update with a newer security patch.
Over the last weekend, Samsung started rolling out a big new software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. We spotted the update is rolling out in India but it could be live in other countries as well.
While the company just mentioned bug fixes, security improvements, and reliability enhancements in the official changelog, there could be other improvements, as it is a 444.47MB update. Read more about the Galaxy Watch 4 here and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic here.

The new update comes with firmware version R8x0XXU1IYCD and includes the March 2025 security patch that fixes 51 security flaws. Since the update was released well into this month, it would have been better if Samsung had included the May 2025 security patch instead of the March patch.
If you have a Galaxy Watch 4 series smartwatch, you should check for the update on your device by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and navigating to Watch Settings » Watch software update » Download and install.
The Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch update could be the last major software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. But it isn't set in stone if this update will be released for the smartwatches, as the company might decide things based on how stable it is during the testing phase.
Thanks for the tip, @Al_Sudapi!
