Well, we didn't see this coming: Samsung already has a stable One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 series, or at least a firmware build that isn't a beta version! There's no guarantee that this update will be the one released as the stable One UI 8 update to the masses, but it can be considered a release candidate and tells us that the software is now good enough to no longer need the beta tag.
The newest One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra sports the build number BYFB, where the B at the beginning tells us this is not a beta firmware, as beta firmware would have a Z in that position. Again, this may not be released to the public, but the fact that Samsung has switched back to a non-beta build number designation suggests that we're closer to the official One UI 8 release than ever.
It's possible Samsung is planning to start the official One UI 8 rollout around the same time that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are set to be unveiled (July 9). It is certainly an achievable goal, as One UI 8 doesn't have a lot of new features and the beta updates available to the public right now already run pretty well.
We downloaded this update thanks to our sources and tried it on a Galaxy S25 Ultra, and while there doesn't appear to be any new additions, some of the features that Samsung had announced seem to have finally started working. Examples include a new clock style for the lock screen that adjusts its shape to adapt to your wallpaper, wallpaper suggestions from the images stored in the gallery, and live captions during phone calls.
