Yesterday, Apple launched the brand’s new lineup of smartphones, the iPhone 17 series. It has four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The first is the most affordable and the last two are the most premium. The iPhone 17 Air sits right in the middle and is most unique of them all.
For this phone, Apple followed Samsung’s footsteps and copied the Galaxy S25 Edge’s formula. However, the latter is ahead in almost every aspect, may it be the display size, the number of cameras, or the battery capacity. Well, as it turns out, the Galaxy S25 Edge beats the iPhone 17 Air in one more aspect: Battery endurance.
The iPhone 17 Air’s Energy label is out (via Roland Quandt). According to it, the maximum capacity of the phone’s battery will not drop below 80% until 1,000 charge cycles. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 Edge’s battery can retain at least 80% maximum capacity till 2,000 charge cycles, which is double than that of the iPhone 17 Air.

So, the iPhone 17 Air’s battery is not only smaller than that of the Galaxy S25 Edge, it is also not as durable. According to the label, the one from Apple can last up to 40 hours on a single charge, whereas, the one from Samsung can last up to 40 hours and 5 minutes. While the difference is minimal, Samsung is ahead.
