If you have the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro or Galaxy Buds 3 series wireless earbuds, you could soon experience improved audio quality when you pair them with your Galaxy Book laptop running Windows 11. Microsoft has implemented a new Bluetooth technology to improve your music listening and voice call experience.

Windows 11 now uses LE Audio when paired with compatible wireless earbuds

Microsoft has announced that it is bringing LE Audio to Windows 11. So, laptops like Galaxy Books that support LE Audio can stream higher-quality audio to compatible wireless earbuds like the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Galaxy Buds 3, and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. LE Audio is built on top of Bluetooth LE instead of Bluetooth Classic and uses a newer compression method to bring improved audio at the same bitrate.

In the chart below, you can see how Bluetooth LE Audio with LC3 codec compares to Bluetooth Classic that uses the default SBC codec and A2DP or HFP profiles.

Microsoft says LE Audio, uses super wideband quality with a 32kHz sample rate, will improve the audio quality drastically. For example, game chat audio should sound more natural rather than sounding muffled. Music that you stream from Apple Music and Spotify should also sound much better than earlier.

Your audio calls on Microsoft Teams should sound much better. Moreover, with the arrival of LE Audio, Microsoft Teams now supports voice calls with Spatial Audio, which means the audio of each person will appear coming from the side of the screen where that person's window is located on your laptop or PC.

To use this feature, you would need a laptop or PC running Windows 11 (version 22H2 or newer.) and having Bluetooth hardware that supports Bluetooth LE Audio. Moreover, you would need wireless earbuds or headphones that support LE Audio as well. Most modern laptops now support LE Audio, but the availability of LE Audio on earbuds is still limited.
