Gemini, Google's AI assistant, made its way to Samsung's Galaxy Watch earlier this year. It replaced Google Assistant which had previously performed somewhat similar duties on the Wear OS-powered wearables.
You currently need to tap the mic icon again when you have a follow up question to ask, and this can become frustrating if you have several follow up questions. Thankfully, it appears Google is working on making things easier.
Depending on your query, Gemini will respond or display results once you finish your query. The mic input is immediately disabled, so if you want to get more information, you have to tap on the mic button shown on the display once again. Rinse and repeat until you've asked all of your questions and are satisfied with the answers.
It's a clunky approach to things, even more so now when everyone expects AI assistants to be seamless and intelligently conversational. The good news is that references have been spotted to a change Google is considering for Gemini on Wear OS, which reveal that the mic input will remain enabled for follow up questions.
While strings for the feature are present in the code for a recent Gemini for Wear OS app update, the feature itself remains disabled, suggesting that Google isn't quite ready to let this loose just yet. Gemini is only available for Galaxy Watch models running One UI 8 Watch.
