There's been a lot of talk about the chipsets that Samsung will use for the Galaxy S26 series. It's likely that we may see the Exynos 2600 being used for other variants while the top-of-the-line model may remain Snapdragon-only.

We'll get a good sense of what this chipset does in an actual device long before the Galaxy S26 Ultra hits the market, as Qualcomm has confirmed that Xiaomi will be the first to release a phone with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

Xiaomi will beat Samsung to the punch with the next Snapdragon chip

We confirmed earlier this week through a leaked One UI 8.5 firmware that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will run on Qualcomm's next-generation mobile platform that the company is going to announce in September.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra won't be out before January 2026 at the very least, while Qualcomm will have the chipset ready to go by September. There will be a handful of devices that beat it to the market, with Xiaomi being the first to do so.

It's not surprising, as the Xiaomi 15 series was the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite last year. The phones came out the very same week that Qualcomm unveiled the chipset at its Snapdragon Summit. Xiaomi will likely put the phone with the new chipset on the market soon after the new chip's launch this year.

This was confirmed by Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon during the company's earrings call yesterday, revealing that Xiaomi will be the “the first OEM to launch with our next Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.” Benchmarks of the chip running on the device could surface soon after launch, particularly if it's displayed during the Summit this year.
