Samsung’s One UI 8.5 beta program is almost here. The Galaxy S25 lineup will be the first to get the beta, and if you’re wondering whether your S25 will be included, the answer depends entirely on which model you own.

The short version: we expect only the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra to be eligible. Samsung will almost certainly leave out the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge.

Samsung has never included a Galaxy S FE smartphone in a One UI beta program, and we don’t expect that to change for a minor One UI update like version 8.5.

The same logic applies to the Galaxy S25 Edge. It wasn’t part of the One UI 8 beta program, and while that’s disappointing for a $1,000+ phone, Samsung likely didn’t sell enough units for it to make sense anyway.

The main flagship trio has always been Samsung’s priority for One UI beta tests. We can safely assume that will remain true for One UI 8.5. So if you own a Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra, you’re in luck and should be able to sign up for the One UI 8.5 beta once registrations open.

Owners of the S25 FE and S25 Edge, however, will have to wait for the stable update. Even owners of eligible models will need to be in the right country to join the beta. The initial phase should include the US, the UK, Korea, and Germany, with India and Poland joining later in the second phase.

Don't own a Galaxy S25-series phone? Check if your device is eligible for the One UI 8.5 update here.
