The world is moving fast. We work, eat, sleep, and repeat. Finding a moment for yourself is getting harder every day. We’re always expected to be online, connected to everyone and everything.

As the founder of imeisource, I’m lucky to have access to the latest Samsung devices. Last week, I received the Galaxy XR, Samsung’s first XR headset. It’s been announced for select markets — only Korea and the U.S for now, but with more to follow later.

The Galaxy XR is the result of a collaboration between Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, and it’s essentially Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Vision Pro. You can read our coverage here, but let me tell you why it’s already replacing my tablet.

A better way to watch my shows

I usually use my tablet when my wife is watching TV. That’s my “me time”, when I catch up on Netflix or YouTube while still sitting together in the same room. Of course, I could just keep doing that, but the cinema-like experience you get with the Galaxy XR is on another level.

And if you’re reading this, Kirsten (my wife): you’ve already claimed the 77-inch S95 OLED, so I think it’s only fair that I get to treat myself too.

The Galaxy XR also helps me disconnect in a healthy way. It gives me space to relax and enjoy a show without constantly checking my phone. It’s not just about watching content, it’s about creating a little pocket of focus and calm in a busy day.

Is this the future?

That depends on how you live and what’s important to you. For me, the Galaxy XR feels like a glimpse of the future, even if it’s not quite there yet. We'll have more to say about that in our full review soon, but for now, it’s safe to say this device has replaced my Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra as my go-to entertainment companion.
