After announcing it yesterday, Google has now released the Android 16 Beta 4 update. It is now available for select Pixel phones and tablets. While the update won't land on your Galaxy device for the next few months, a stock Android release is always interesting, as it offers a sneak peek at features that might come in future versions of One UI.

This release might give us an idea as to what to expect from One UI 8.0, which will first launch with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in mid-2025.

The Android 16 Beta 4 update is now avaialble from Google for select Pixel (Pixel 6 and newer) devices. With this release, Google has ended working on new features and UI changes. Now, the company will only working to improve its stability and then release the stable Android 16 update in the next 2-3 months, probably with the Pixel 10 series.

9To5Google did a deep dive to find the changes introduced with Android 16 Beta 4, and found that it improved the Always-On Display (AOD) screen by bringing Dynamic Color to it based on the chosen wallpaper. The new software also brings Screenshot and Select options to Android 16's Recent Apps (multitasking) screen. Android 16 Beta 4 brings the ‘Apps List' option when you long press on the device's home screen.

Google seems to have darkened the artwork's colors in the media player widget on the lock screen and Quick Settings. There is also a dot at the end of the volume slider. Google seems to have introduced a new introduction screen for UI navigation gestures.

With Android 15, Google introduced the Battery Health Percentage feature. However, the feature has reportedly disappeared from most Pixel devices running Android 16 Beta 4. The Beta tag from Google's ‘Themed Icons' feature on Pixel devices seems to have disappeared, so the feature seems to be in stable form after years of testing.

There are a few bug fixes, as is the cases with most beta releases. As you can notice, most changes are not dramatic, and the UI won't likely see a lot of changes from this release to the stable software. So, it is likely that there won't be many UI-related changes in One UI 8.0.
