Apple has been working a foldable iPhone for years and is expected to finally launch it late next year. The company's primary rival will undoubtedlty be Samsung, which has been making foldable phones for more than six years. The first foldable iPhone will compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in 2026.

If a recent report is to be believed, Samsung's foldable could be better than Apple's in at least three ways.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 could have three advantages over Apple's first foldable iPhone

Reliable Chinese tipster DCS claimed that Apple's first foldable iPhone is still in the testing stage and not everything has been finalized yet. They claimed that the device has a 7.58-inch inner (foldable) screen, dual 48MP rear cameras, a titanium body, and a hinge that is made up of a composite durable material with amorphous metallic glass.

If this information is accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will most likely have an upper hand over the foldable iPhone in three ways.

1. Bigger screens

Samsung's foldable will have a bigger foldable screen, as even the Galaxy Z Fold 7 launching next month has an 8-inch inner screen. Even if noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's information about the foldable iPhone having a 7.8-inch screen is to be believed, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will offer more screen real estate.

2. Better cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. So, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have either a similar camera setup or an upgrade ultrawide or telephoto camera with 50MP resolution.

In comparison, the foldable iPhone is rumored to have just two rear cameras, both with a 48MP resolution. It will likely miss out on a telephoto camera, and that could give the Galaxy Z Fold 8 the edge.

3. Better design for one-handed usage

It isn't clear if the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have a titanium frame, but it will likely have a better design for one-handed usage. Since the foldable iPhone is rumored to have an iPad Mini-like aspect ratio, it will likely be wider than Galaxy Z phones in its folded state. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will likely be more comfortable to hold when it is folded, thanks to its 21:9 aspect ratio.

However, keep in mind that Apple still hasn't finalized its foldable iPhone, and Samsung could bring bigger improvements to its foldable phones next year as it knows it will be up against Apple for the first time in the foldable smartphone segment. So, we can expect more groundbreaking stuff from Samsung in 2026.
