The teaser for Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event hints at the arrival of the first tri-folding Galaxy phone. Last week, we got to see what the device could look like via Samsung’s animation hidden in One UI 8's code. Its folding mechanism is different from that of Huawei's tri-folding device. Now, Tecno has revealed a concept device with the same folding mechanism, giving us an idea about how Samsung’s Galaxy G Fold (tentative name) may look like.

Tecno's first tri-folding device has the same folding mechanism as the Galaxy G Fold

Tecno has revealed the Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept, a smartphone with a tri-folding display. Its foldable screen has three parts, and there is a separate cover display, similar to Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold device. You can check the images of the device below. That is how the Galaxy G Fold may look like as well.

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, which is the only tri-folding phone in the world on sale right now, also has a screen with three parts. However, its mechanism is completely different. One of its hinges folds inwards, while the other folds outwards, leaving the screen exposed to the environment near one of the hinges. That makes the display prone to getting damaged in case the device suffers a fall.

In comparison, the form factor of Samsung's and Tecno's tri-folding phones doesn’t expose the foldable display to the environment, which makes those devices more durable.

Fortunately, we don't have to wait too long to see the first official glimpse at Samsung's tri-folding phone, as the next Galaxy Unpacked event is only two days away. After announcing the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the South Korean firm could tease the Galaxy G Fold just before the end of the keynote event.
