With each new One UI release, Samsung expands the Good Lock app with additional customization options that let you adjust the interface beyond what’s available out of the box. But every now and then, Samsung axes some existing functionality. One such example is the notification lock feature in Good Lock's NotiStar module.

When enabled, it ensured that notifications from apps you selected stayed in the notification shade even after you used the ‘Clear all’ option. Samsung removed this option from NotiStar in One UI 8, which left some users unhappy. However, a moderator from the Good Lock team has revealed on Samsung’s community forums that the feature will return and work again in One UI 8.5.

Thankfully, most devices that received One UI 8 are also expected to get One UI 8.5, even if One UI 8 was their final major OS upgrade. Still, if you relied on this feature, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Samsung will likely restore it to NotiStar only after One UI 8.5 begins rolling out (the stable version, not the beta), something that isn’t going to happen until 2026.

If your Galaxy phone is running an older version of One UI and you want to try out this feature, install Good Lock from the Play Store (if you haven’t already), open it, and install the NotiStar module from the Plugins tab. Then open NotiStar, enable it using the toggle at the top, scroll to the bottom, tap Set app unable to clear notifications, and select the apps whose notifications you want to keep in the notification shade at all times.
