It's been nearly two years since the Galaxy A25 went on sale, but if you're thinking about replacing it, you might want to think twice. Sure, the newer Galaxy A26 is one of the best two A-series phones you can buy in the USA — and elsewhere — right now, but the A25 has something newer phones don't.
The Galaxy A25 was the last in the A2x series to feature a 3.5mm headphone port. The newer A26 abandoned the standard. So, whether you'll upgrade to the A26 now or to a future model next year doesn't matter. Sooner or later, you'll have to decide to leave the 3.5mm port behind.
On the bright side, wireless headphones offer unique advantages. Not getting your headphone's wire tangled is one of them. But you may have to pay extra for a wireless solution once you can no longer use your 3.5mm-based wired ones.
Fortunately, you don't necessarily have to pay top dollar for the most premium wireless headphones. Samsung does offer cheaper wireless headphones on its e-shop, and in select markets, including the USA, you can also buy affordable JBL wireless headphones directly from Samsung.
Okay, so let's say you are ready to go wireless. Is it now time for an upgrade? Maybe, but if you're looking for a trade-in deal in the USA, you're out of luck.
As of this writing, if you want to exchange your Galaxy A25 for a discount on the A26, you can't. The A25 is not listed for trade-in. And right now, there is no “other” brand category. Samsung just doesn't want your A25 at the moment.
So, once again, if you're ready to go wireless and are thinking of leaving the Galaxy A25 behind, think again. You might not be able to get any trade-in value from it right now, and you will have to pay the full price for any newer phone you choose.
On a final note, let's talk about performance upgrades or lack thereof. If you own the Galaxy A25 in the Latin American region, you won't get better performance by switching to the A26.
The reason is that, in the LATAM region, the A26 is powered by the same Exynos 1280 chip as the A25, while in other regions, the newer phone uses the Exynos 1380.

No trade-in deals and no better chip (in LATAM)
