The Galaxy S24 is relatively old news. It's already been succeeded by the S25 at the beginning of 2025. But today, the 2024 flagship is making its way back into the headlines thanks to an unexpected development in India, where Samsung appears to be planning to launch a Snapdragon version. And there's plenty of evidence to indicate this is not an error.
Here's what's happening. A new Galaxy S24 variant with a slightly different model number for India has surfaced online. This version is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, rather than the Exynos 2400. It carries the SM-S921E model number instead of SM-S921B, and entries for this Snapdragon variant already exist on Flipkart, Geekbench, and Samsung's firmware servers (via @tarunvats33).
First things first, the standard Galaxy S24 in India has the SM-S921B model number, and no E-branded variant has been released yet. This new SM-S921E version strongly hints at a different chip being used.
Secondly, Flipkart in India already has a dedicated landing page for the new Galaxy S24 variant. It contains banners claiming that the phone now comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “for Galaxy” chip. Check it out below.

Furthermore, “Galaxy S24 5G Snapdragon” devices are already listed on Flipkart and branded as “Coming Soon.” The phone is priced at INR 74,999 ($851) on Flipkart, and the retailer's spec sheet clearly lists a Snapdragon chip and the E-based model number.

If this wasn't unusual enough, the same SM-S921E-labeled Galaxy S24 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip under the hood popped up in an online benchmark recently.
And the last piece of evidence pointing at a Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S24 coming to India “soon” is that firmware for the SM-S921E variant already exists on Samsung's servers.
All in all, plenty of evidence is pointing to a new Snapdragon-enabled Galaxy S24 variant for India. At first, we thought this may have been an error on Flipkart's part, but there's too much going on to ignore.
Of course, there's no way to be sure of anything, but as of this writing, it seems extremely plausible that a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Galaxy S24 will soon hit the shelves in India.
This is quite an unusual turn of events, considering that the Galaxy S24 is one and a half years old and that Samsung is on the brink of launching the Galaxy S25 FE. We'll have to wait and see what happens next.
