Samsung appears to be working on a new app, or a Good Lock module, for the Chinese version of One UI 8.5. It's called Smart Manager and looks like Device Care on steroids.

The app offers utilities for the battery, storage, memory, apps, and more. It even includes app lock options, access to experimental Labs features, quick shortcuts to software updates and Maintenance Mode, and more.

Screenshots showing the new Smart Manager app's menus for One UI 8.5 in China emerged on X. Check them out below.

Fortunately, even though Samsung might not plan an international release for this app/Good Lock module, some of its features could make it out of China and transition to the global version of One UI 8.5.

Isn't Samsung Smart Manager really old?

If Smart Manager sounds familiar, it means you've been a Samsung fan for a fairly long time. Indeed, Smart Manager was a feature on older Galaxy devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and below.

Smart Manager later became Device Care, which we all have on our modern One UI phones.

Now, the Smart Manager app appears to be making a comeback in some form or another, but again, it appears to be limited to China.

All in all, Device Care and this modern Smart Manager app are similar in that they offer utilities for system management. The main difference is that Smart Manager appears to include a ton of extra options, to the point where it almost seems cluttered.

Hopefully, Samsung will bring this Smart Manager app to the masses through Good Lock. Or, at the very least, some of the app's best features will hopefully become a part of Device Care in the final version of One UI 8.5.

Speaking of, One UI 8.5 will debut with the Galaxy S26 series early next year. An official beta program for older devices may also go live before the end of this year.
