Samsung has announced that Samsung Wallet now supports digital key access for Porsche vehicles. The feature will be available first for the Porsche Macan (MY26) in Europe this month and then extend to more models globally, including the Cayenne Electric next year.

With it, you can open the Samsung Wallet on your Galaxy phone (you can swipe up from the home screen or lock screen), select the digital key for your Porsche vehicle, and use it to lock, unlock, and start the car, as well as use it to access other functions of the car remotely.

Samsung says that Samsung Wallet uses Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies, based on standards set by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) and the Fine Ranging (FiRa) Consortium, to communicate with Porsche vehicles using digital keys.

According to the brand, Porsche digital keys are protected by EAL6+ grade security certifications to keep keys “securely embedded on the device and help safeguard against unauthorized access.” People will also be able to share these keys with others using Samsung Wallet.

In case a Galaxy phone with Samsung Wallet containing a digital key is stolen, people can use the Samsung Find service to lock the device or delete the key. To set up a digital key for their Porsche vehicle, people will have to download the My Porsche app, link their vehicle, and follow the steps it shows to add the key to their Samsung Wallet.
