Samsung has announced a major upgrade to the brand’s digital wallet for Galaxy smartphones, Samsung Wallet, for India. It brings four entirely new features.
When you purchase a new Galaxy smartphone and are setting up the device for the first time, the phone will bring up Samsung Wallet and let you set it up, including UPI registration. This will enable people to use Samsung Wallet right from the moment they start using their device after setting it up.
When you are using Samsung Wallet to make UPI payments, the app will let you authenticate the payment using your fingerprint, eliminating the need to enter a PIN for every transaction. This makes it easier to make a payment and also saves your time.
Samsung Wallet will let you use saved credit and debit cards not just for Tap and Pay transactions but also for online payments. The tech giant hasn’t gone into too much detail about this feature.
That being said, we assume that on your smartphone, when you are making an online payment using a card, Samsung Wallet will pop up, asking you if you want it to fill in the card details.
In addition to credit and debit cards, Samsung Wallet will support FOREX cards for Tap and Pay. It will allow you to make payments in foreign countries or currencies easily. This feature is powered by WSFx Global Pay Limited.
Samsung says that it will start rolling out these features to Samsung Wallet “soon.” On a related note, Samsung recently upgraded Samsung Wallet with digital key support for Mahindra SUVs.
