Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. It offers the May 2025 security patch, which fixes security issues mentioned here.

Samsung is offering the update to the carrier-locked variant of the tablet for the US, which has the model number SM-T227U. It carries firmware version T227USQSCEYE2.

We expect the brand to offer the update to other variants of the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, including the factory-unlocked and international models, in the next few days.

To get the latest update, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download it from our firmware section and install it manually.

Galaxy Tab A7 Lite will not get any major OS upgrades anymore

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite with Android 11 (One UI 3) and offered three new versions of the OS to the tablet. With that, it is now running on Android 14-based One UI 6.1. Unfortunately, it is not eligible for any more major updates. It means that the device will not get Android 15-based One UI 7.0 and Android 16-based One UI 8.0.

If that is making you think of upgrading to a newer tablet, and you don't want to spend much, you should take a look at the Galaxy Tab S9 FE.
