Yesterday, Samsung launched its new lineup of flagship non-foldable smartphones, the Galaxy S26 series. Despite being occupied with that, the brand is ensuring that it releases software updates to its older smartphones on time, as the Galaxy S23 series is now getting the February 2026 security patch. It fixes 37 security issues present in the previous version of the OS.
As usual, Samsung is rolling out the update first in its home country, South Korea. It is 441.78MB in size and carries firmware version S91xNKSS7EZB2 (via @ya_sking12767). If the brand’s software update rollout history is anything to go by, it should start offering it in other countries in the next few days. To check for and get it, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
At the Galaxy Unpacked event yesterday, Samsung also debuted the latest stable version of One UI for Galaxy smartphones, One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2), with the Galaxy S26 series. It brings a redesigned user interface and new features, which you can check out here. The Galaxy S23 series is eligible to get it.
Samsung is expected to start rolling out One UI 8.5 to eligible devices in the next few days. Initially, the brand may offer it to newer and higher-end devices, such as Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series, and then to older and more affordable models, such as Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy F series.
