Galaxy M53 users, rejoice, because the update you have been waiting for is finally here. Samsung has released Android 15-based One UI 7.0 to the phone, which brings a ton of upgrades. While the brand is currently rolling it out only in its home country, South Korea, it is at least finally here, which means that the company will soon release it in other regions.
On Samsung’s Community forum for Korea, a user reports that their Galaxy Quantum 3 (which is what the brand calls the Korea-specific variant of the Galaxy M53) has received the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update. Along with One UI 7, it also brings the May 2025 security patch, which fixes many security issues that you can check out here.
One UI 7.0 brings a massively redesigned user interface compared to One UI 6.1. That includes new icons, separate panels for notifications and quick settings toggles, a vertically-scrolling app drawer, and new UI elements in many places, which are cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing. That, coupled with smoother animations, your Galaxy A53 should become much more fun to use.
There are a ton of new features as well. That includes Live Notifications and Now Bar, which can show the status of ongoing activities, such as timer, stopwatch, sports scores, and many other things at the top of the screen while you are using the device and at the bottom of the lock screen when the device is idle. All in all, One UI 7 gives a fresh breath of life to the aging Galaxy M53.
Speaking of aging, the Galaxy M53, despite being more than three years old now, is eligible to get Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8.0, which the brand is testing on the Galaxy S25 series at the moment. Once the testing is complete, the company will release its stable version to all the eligible devices. Unfortunately, we don’t know when. To update your Galaxy M53 to Android 15-based One UI 7.0, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install.
