Samsung may have offered the Galaxy Z TriFold in very limited numbers, and that too in a select few markets, but that doesn't mean the company won't stay on top of firmware updates for the device.

The company today rolled out a new firmware update for its first tri-fold phone, giving customers who bought this expensive device the peace of mind that it will be business as usual when it comes to updates.

It will be a while before some new features arrive

Samsung today rolled out firmware version F968NKSS2AZA1 for the Galaxy Z TriFold. It comes in at just above 540MB and brings the January 2026 security patch.

Since the Galaxy Z TriFold already runs One UI 8.0 Android 16 out of the box, it will be some time before a major update is released for the device. The company may already be working on One UI 8.5 for the device, which will be released in due course.

Samsung has a beta program for One UI 8.5 underway, and it's widely believed that the company will release its next major software update once the Galaxy S26 series is released in the next couple of months.

As for the Galaxy Z TriFold, it continues to be sold out very quickly in the few markets that it has been launched in. Samsung hasn't said anything about its plans to possibly expand the launch, as there are still large segments of the market that it's ignoring, with Europe being the most prominent one.
