It was recently reported that Samsung might end its partnership with Microsoft to offer cloud storage to Galaxy devices. Now, it has been revealed that the company might be soon take on Apple and Google by offering its in-house cloud storage option.

Samsung Cloud will have paid subscription plans

X user @DevOfIpos has discovered that Samsung is planning to offer two paid subscription plans for Samsung Cloud: 49GB and 199GB. While the screenshots show a pricing of $1 per month for both the storage tiers, they might just be placeholders. The actual pricing could be revealed in the coming months, as it was revealed that OneDrive integration is ending in December this year.

A maximum of 200GB is not enough for some people, so Samsung might offer higher storage tiers in Samsung Cloud. However, that information hasn't been revealed yet. More information could be announced in the coming months.

What is Samsung Cloud and what can you use it for?

Samsung Cloud, the South Korean firm’s in-house cloud storage solution, already exists. It is designed for Galaxy devices like phones, tablets, and smartphones. While it’s not new, it does offer a paid subscription option.

Besides photos and videos from your phone's Gallery, you can back up call logs, messages (SMS, MMS, and RCS), contacts, calendar events, alarms, timers, device settings (like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi), home screen layouts (including Samsung DeX), apps (and app data), and voice recordings. You can access backed up photos and videos from the web.

You can't back up files that have a size of more than 1GB and data inside Secure Folder. Calendar entries and contacts from synced accounts (like Google account) can't be backed up either. This is similar to existing features.
