The Galaxy Ring was one of Samsung’s most awaited products when it launched in 2024. A few months ago, a Galaxy Ring user named Daniel claimed that the ring got stuck on his finger due to a swollen battery. After investigating the matter, Samsung has now shared an update on the incident.

According to Samsung, the battery inside Daniel’s Galaxy Ring swelled because of a crack in the internal moulding structure. However, it could not determine the exact cause of the crack. Following a three-month-long investigation, Samsung concluded that there is no wider battery safety risk associated with the Galaxy Ring.

The company also confirmed that an independent external agency was involved in the analysis.

Samsung added that the Galaxy Ring is designed to withstand everyday use and reassured users that they do not need to worry about the battery swelling under normal conditions. The company also advised users to check customer care guides on its website for more information about troubleshooting.

Here is Samsung’s official statement:

Customer safety is our highest priority. Samsung has been in regular contact with Daniel whilst we conducted our investigation. Following an examination by Samsung and then a further analysis by an independent external agency, it was confirmed that the swelling in Daniel’s Galaxy Ring was caused by a crack in the internal moulding and that there was no wider product battery safety risk. The Galaxy Ring has been designed for everyday wear, with durability at the core.

Meanwhile, some Galaxy Ring users have claimed that their devices are consuming more battery than usual. When Daniel raised this concern with Samsung, the company said that users facing similar issues should contact customer support so their cases can be reviewed individually.

Samsung also released a firmware update last month to address excessive battery drain on some Galaxy Ring units.
