As bizarre as it may sound, Samsung recently started display ads on its refrigerators. The company sells a whole range of refrigerators that have large screens that you can use to browse recipes, watch YouTube, shop for groceries, control SmartThings devices, and much more.

Where there's a screen, there's always the possibility of advertisements. Samsung recently started displaying ads on these products but thankfully, it's now allowing users to turn them off.

Turning ads off on your Samsung fridge is fairly simple

The company rolled out a software update for these refrigerators back in September. The update enabled these products to show ads on the cover screen for the Weather, Color, and Daily Board themes.

A lot of users were put off by this. Samsung's premium refrigerators cost a couple of thousand dollars at the very least. One wouldn't expect to still have to put up with ads after buying such an expensive product, but Samsung feels differently.

Fortunately, it has now made it possible to turn off these advertisements. A Reddit user has shared that Samsung has released a new update for its smart refrigerators that brings the option to turn off ads. You can turn off ads on a Samsung fridge by going to the Settings menu, scrolling all the way to the bottom where you'll find the Advertisements toggle. Turn it off and be rid of those pesky ads.

It's great to see that Samsung is giving users some choice here, because it could have gone the other way and users wouldn't have been able to do anything beyond not buying another Samsung fridge in the future. That's obviously not something Samsung would want.
