According to multiple reports, Apple is going to equip the next MacBook Pro with an OLED display, bringing them in line with Samsung’s Galaxy Books in the display department. Last month, we learned that Apple may knock on Samsung Display’s door for that, which could bring in a lot of revenue and profit for the South Korean tech giant. Well, there’s more good news for Samsung’s share holders on this front.

Dealsite reports that Samsung Display will be the sole supplier of OLED panels for Apple’s next MacBook Pro (via MacRumors). The publication points out that the South Korean tech giant heavily invested in Gen 8.6 production lines. They can use larger glass substrates, which is more ideal for making panels for laptops and monitors, and can combine oxide TFT technology for reducing power consumption, improvising scalability, and cutting down manufacturing costs.

Samsung Display is the largest manufacturer of OLED displays in the world, and it already supplies OLED panels for many Apple products. With that, it was a no-brainer that Apple would knock on Samsung’s door. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant usually diversifies its supply to avoid supply chain issue. As such, Samsung wasn’t expected to get the order for all the required panels. Surprisingly, it did, which means that Apple may not have had any other option.

According to various leaks and rumours, Apple will launch the next MacBook Pro in 2026. With the OLED technology, its screen will offer deeper blacks, higher brightness, more vibrant colors, and consume lower amount of power than LCD displays, which could offer improved battery life.
